Bikini Girls - Flattering Swimsuits for All Women

Updated on July 4, 2017

From Skinny Minnies to Plus Sized Women - any Woman can Find a Flattering Bathing Suit

Skinny-Minnie Bikini girls have it made! If you are the ideal of thin and busty -especially if you are young - the beach is great and there is not much to worry about. If you are a movie star - the beach is easy and fabulous!

Not all of us look like movies stars, but then beauty comes in all kinds of sizes and in all age groups. It is perfect for everyone!

Swimming is such great exercise, and the beach and pool are so much fun - so it is great that you any woman can find a pretty, flattering bathing suit. I swim 12 months of a year as I belong to a club with a heated outdoor pool. Once you get into the water, it always feels fine!

It is no longer true that you have to have a "perfect" figure to find a swimsuit that suits. And although there has been a lot of disregard for women of average to large size in the past, the swim suits of 2013 allow women of larger sizes all kinds of fashion options, not just beautiful skinny girls. Come on in, the water is fine for every one!

The origin of the Bikini

Where did those Girls Come From?

The first bikini in modern times was revealed to the fashion world on July 05 1946 in a fashion show in Paris that would have been definitely worth watching. The tiny swimsuit was created by an French automobile engineer : Louis Reard. Reard got into the fashion world by working in his mother's shoe shop.

Reard set out to create the world's tiniest swimwear and succeeded. He named the swimwear after the Bikini Islands - which had just experienced the first nuclear test recently before. I suppose as an engineer by trade he was interested in this and I guess the idea was that he was causing his own explosion.

The bikini was quite scandalous at the time. Louis Reard could not get a legitimate model to show it. He decided to hire nude dancer:Micheline Bernardini. The bikini skyrocketed her career -and at the same time allowed her a chance to cover up. Even today movie stars are infamous for looking great at the beach.

Best Bikinis 2013 - Best Bikini Bathing Suits for Women

I have looked to find some some of the best bikinis available that you can order online. You can order with confidence from Amazon, as they work hard to ensure the reputation of the company. You will be able to return these suits if need be, but I have worked hard to choose ones that you won't have to.

There are lots of available bikinis - more glamorous Brazilian bikinis, a bikini you could use during workouts as well, bikinis for maternity, and generally highly rated bikinis. I have located an extremely well rated black and white bikini for focus.

There was a contest between Louis Reard and the fashion designer Jacques Heim to make the smallest swimsuit possible. Jacques Heim finished first, and called his tiny swimsuit "the atom." Reard followed by creating the Bikini: essentially a bra top and two inverted triangles of cloth connected by string. It was micro sized . The tiny bikini was fashioned out of just 30 inches of fabric. Louis Reard said it was "smaller than the world's smallest bathing suit." Won the contest, won the fame.

Bikinis in Ancient Times too

The history of the Bikini didn't start in 1946

Louis Reard might have made the bikini commercial - but scantily clad women have been around since antiquity. They were known in the Greek and Roman times;the Roman goddess Venus has been depicted in one.

There is a famous piece of art with ten women called "The Bikini Girls" located in Villa Romana del Casale in a mosaic on the floor. The women are in clothes that appear to be like bikinis. It is not known how much actual swimming they did.

Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot ............. - The song is still a hit!

"Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" was written by Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss. It was first released in June 1960 by Brian Hyland with orchestra conducted by John Dixon

It is one of the most famous novelty songs of the 60's - here is an updated version with Ruben Gomez.

Swimming is great exercise - Even if you are Pregnant

Women of all sizes should Get in the Water

Swimming is almost the perfect sport. If you have some excess weight on you, that is even more reason to pop into the water because the buoyancy is wonderful for your joints. Swimming is great for lung development; asthmatics can really profit from the water. Many gyms have aquasize classes, often they are oriented to people who have health difficulties like just getting over surgery.

Pregnant women should definitely be in the water. Many times pregnant women are ashamed of their bodies, this is an unfortunate result of our culture which is so thin obsessed it does not even honor pregnant women. What ever the culture says - a woman should honor her pregnant body.

Whatever your size - you should get in the water.

Plus Sized Swim Wear on Amazon - If you are Ample - you can Still enjoy the Beach!

Was Marilyn Monroe a plus sized beauty? Well, she was about a size 14 - definitely no skinny-Minnie.

There is flattering swimwear for women of all ages and sizes.

Are Bikinis For Everyone?

Being Comfortable is For Everyone

Although traditionally bikinis have been limited to women who are small, there now is more acceptance of all women wearing them. There have even been plus sized bikinis made especially for larger women. Bikini wearing is definitely a matter of personal preference.

And contrary to common belief, wearing bikinis - or viewing them at the beach does not lead to insanity.

PS - Wouldn't you love to see some he-man pinups?

Do You Always Go Hairless?

In the Sixties, women often did not shave their legs. If you were really gutsy you did this and went to the beach. How about you?

Have you ever, or would you ever go swimming without shaving or waxing?

A New Sport: National Physique Contests

Bodybuilding for Women

It seems funny to me now that when I was growing up body-building was reserved for men, and even they were considered freaks.

Now of course body-builders are considered the height of feminine as well as masculine health, especially with pro's like Jillian Michaels from America's Biggest Losers. Not content just to trust the making of a beautiful body to fate, these athletes go through strict training to get to their results. A robust industry has sprung up, with millions involved in competitions, exercise regiments, nutrition and supplementation.

Nothing shows off a ripped body like a bikini so an entire wave of new athletes: "bikini athletes" have sprung up. The National Physique Committee is a leader in putting on some of the best contests around, and for making bikini models a respected sport.
